Pets Reaching Out To People

Join Our Group

You are welcome to join us at our next meeting!

Our next meeting is Monday, November 2, 2020, 6:30pm-7:30pm,

This will be a ZOOM virtual meeting!

There is a Pet Partners Therapy Animal Handlers Workshop at the Library in Topeka on September 12th.  Please sign up on the Pet Partners website or contact Julie at 785-221-7039 for more information!  You would be able to evaluate your new therapy animal in October if you take the class in September!

Looking for information on what your pet has to do during the evaluation or    how to become a therapy team?  Having problems signing up for an evaluation with Prairieland?  Please go to our tab at the top,

"Become a Therapy Team"  or "Evaluations" and there will be links to documents with information and phone number for a person to assist!

Prairieland is a friendly group of folks from the heartland who are interested in promoting the human/animal bond,

Our group provides human/animal visitation teams to healthcare facilities, schools, and other facilities that can benefit from interactions with animals.

We conduct educational seminars and workshops and promote a mentoring program for newly registered teams.

The Association meets about six times a year, and two or more times annually, it conducts Pet Partners evaluation events for prospective human/animal visitation teams.

Your Pet Is Too Perfect Not to Share

Therapy animal work is a rewarding experience.  As a therapy animal team you will:

  • Share the animal you love with others

  • Have an activity to do with your animal

  • Have a sense of purpose

  • Give back to your community

Remember, you don't need a registered visitation animal (or any animal) to join and participate in Prairieland, just an interest in           animal visitation.

We would love to meet you!

Pet Partners since 1990, Therapy Animal Program has set the standard for what it means to deliver excellence in animal-assisted interventions.

You’ve felt it yourself—the undeniable boost to your mood and spirit you feel when you’re with your pet. Every year, thousands of Pet Partners volunteer handlers around the world share this gift by bringing joy and improved outcomes to millions of people in a wide variety of settings.

We require all members to attend a handler's course and require all therapy animal teams to renew their registration with us every two years, ensuring that animals are healthy and enjoying their work (crucial to their welfare) and handlers are prepared for every situation that might arise on a visit (crucial for clients’ safety & staff members’ trust). In return we offer continuing education for the human end of the leash, liability insurance and a cancer care fund for your therapy animal in case, during their life time, they develop cancer.
